Welcome! Hello! My name is Samantha Mihelic and I am an Intervention Specialist major from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Welcome to my website where we will explore different teaching strategies and tools for the certain mathematic topics for middle school students!
CRA (Concrete. Representational. Abstract)· CRA is an important strategy to implement when teaching all math concepts. CRA will be discussed throughout this site in addition to other strategies and implementation procedures for teaching math concepts.
o Concrete: Uses concrete items/manipulatives to solve problems. This allows the students to physically manipulate and work through the problem. o Representational: Students see images, diagrams, or drawings in order to solve the problem. This is more complex because students must imagine the items being manipulated and how they work as opposed to working through the problems with the items themselves. o Abstract: In this stage, the students work through the problems without any concrete or representational items to help or support them. This is the most advance and complex stage. Click here to view a video further explaining the CRA instructional model. |
